Doctors Hospital of Manteca Spotlighting Breast Health

Oct 1, 2020

Doctors Hospital of Manteca is committed to the fight against breast cancer. Statistics indicate that one out of every eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her lifetime. If detected early, the five-year survival rate is 98 percent. Mammograms are the most effective form of early detection.

For patients who have been putting off their medical needs due to fear of coming to the hospital, there is no need to delay care. Doctors Hospital of Manteca continues to care for all patients with healthcare needs not related to COVID-19 and that includes providing routine mammograms and screenings. It’s important that patients do not put off routine screenings as that can create problems down the road.

Every precaution is being taken, combining strong infection prevention processes, staff training, testing, and ample supply of personal protective equipment. Doctors Hospital of Manteca is committed to universal protection and safety for every person who walks through our doors.

Here are the ways Doctors Hospital of Manteca is putting breast health in the spotlight, not only for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, but every day.

Personalized Care:

Doctors Hospital of Manteca offers state-of-the-art imaging services in the Women’s Imaging Center, and personalized patient care with a dedicated breast health coordinator. Dawnis Villegas, RN, guides patients through the diagnostic evaluation period, up to and through a diagnosis of cancer by providing emotional support, education and resources.

Comprehensive screening and diagnostic services are available in the Women’s Imaging Center including mammography, breast ultrasound, breast biopsies and breast coil MRI. The center provides a continuum of services under one roof, providing ease and accessibility to patients. The goal is to provide prompt and accurate answers from when a lump is detected to when a diagnosis is provided, helping alleviate stress and anxiety for the patient.

Convenient Mammograms:

Annual mammograms are an important part of a woman’s wellness routine, generally beginning at age 40. Doctors Hospital of Manteca is making it easier than ever for women to get their routine screenings, including offering next day appointments.

In addition, the Women’s Imaging Center is staying open late every Tuesday in October until 7 p.m. to accommodate busy working women. Sometimes there just aren’t enough hours in the day for those with busy schedules. We understand it may be difficult for working moms and busy women to get in for their screenings during normal business hours. But the last thing that should be neglected is their health. These extended hours allow women to conveniently come in after hours, when they are finished with work or activities with kids and families.

“In our Certified Breast Health Center, we want to make sure our patients feel comfortable when coming in for their mammograms. We are doing everything we can to make sure they feel safe,” said Dawnis Villegas. “Women tend to put the needs of others before themselves, but the last thing that should be neglected is their health.” If you would like to schedule a mammogram, or have questions about this important breast health procedure, please call (209) 239-8370.
